  NNL: Sporting Lagos, Akwa United in NPFL Promotion push Sporting Lagos and Akwa United are in tough promotion battle in Nigeria National League, NNL, Conference B, DAILY POST reports. Only one point separate both teams on the table going into the final day of the 2025/26 season next week Wednesday. Sporting Lagos leapfrogged Akwa United into top spot after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Rovers FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan on Wednesday. The modest side top the standings with 33 points, while Akwa United are second with 32 points. The two teams will be on the road next week, with Sporting Lagos travelling to Osogbo to face Osun United in a South West derby. Osun United are battling relegation, and must win the game to have any chance of staying in the NNL. Akwa United will be away to Solution FC, who have nothing but pride to play for.

  Kwara Fire Service rescues two children from collapsed building Kwara State Fire Service on Thursday rescued two children from a collapsed building in Ilorin, the state capital. The incident occurred at about 09:10 hours at Ajegunle Street, off Sabo-Line in the Isale area of Ilorin. According to the spokesman of the State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, the incident involved a two-storey building comprising six flats.   Court jails Boko Haram ‘victim’ after 10 years in detention   Justice Peter Odo Lifu of the Abuja Federal High Court has sentenced a Boko Haram terrorist victim, Ali Kolo, to nine years imprisonment after more than ten years in the detention. Kolo, who was shot in the right leg by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State, was on Thursday found guilty of failure to report activities of the dreaded group to security agents. The Boko Haram victim was put on trial by the Federal Government on a four-count charge but pleaded guilty to one count which bordered on concealment of information on the activities of the terrorist group in Borno State. Insecurity: Police engage communities in Southern Kaduna The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Shehu Umar Nadada and the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Rabiu Muhammad, engaged communities in the southern parts of the state on the need for peaceful coexistence as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime, strengthen security, and build public confidence.   Transfer: Lazio name asking price for Dele-Bashiru Lazio are open to selling midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in the summer, Dasleeknews reports. According to Italian publication, Tuttomercato, Lazio want between €15m and €18m for the Nigeria international. Dele-Bashiru was linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimipco in January. The 25-year-old however remain at the club following the departure of some key players. Head coach Maurizio Sarri has however sanctioned his departure ahead of the summer transfer market. BREAKING: Nigerian Army Brigade Commander killed by terrorists in Borno Suspected Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists have reportedly killed Brig.-Gen. O. O. Braimah, a Brigade Commander of the Joint Task Force in Benesheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, during a midnight attack on the town.  Leave our party alone’ – Bala leads protest against David Mark ADC faction Protesters on Thursday stormed the streets of Abuja, calling on opposition leaders such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and former Senate President David Mark to stay away from the African Democratic Congress, ADC. The demonstration was led by the factional National Chairman of the ADC, Nafiu Bala, who accused the political figures of attempting to hijack the party. Bala was joined by ADC House of Representatives member, Leke Abejide, as they marched with supporters carrying placards with various inscriptions. Some of the placards had inscriptions such as ‘Woe to Political Marauders’, and ‘Hon. Nafiu Bala, We Stand With You’. Dasleeknews recalls that this seems to be a counter protest after an earlier demonstration by the David Mark faction at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

Petrol tanker crushes commercial tricycle in Delta, kills passengers A petrol tanker has crushed a commercial tricycle, killing all passengers on the spot. The incident occurred at Refinery Junction, near Effurun roundabout, in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. Dasleeknews learnt that the petrol tanker had a break failure and rammed into the tricycle. The body parts of the victims were severed into pieces. At the time of this report, sympathizers and government agencies were seen trying to clear the rubbles, with the deceased already deposited at the morgue.
